Bad credit causes stress and regrets and can hang like a dark cloud over your life. However, with effort it is completely possible and within reach to overcome bad credit and attain the financial freedom you have always dreamed about. There are simple ways to beat bad credit, but there are no short-cuts. No debts will be completely forgiven, even in bankruptcy, so while negotiation is possible, be prepared to pay at least the minimum toward your debt each month and on time. If you find that you can’t cover your monthly expenses, communicate with your creditors. They may not forgive the debt, but they will often work with you on a payment plan or alternative. Budget wisely and stick to it; use more cash, less credit. However, don’t forget that using your credit wisely is an important way to change the tide and create a positive credit history which will reflect positively on your credit score.

Why is it that a lot of people avoid talking to their creditors when it is their creditors who can help them by extinguishing part or all of their debt?
